UEA MUTINEERS

SING and PLAY-A-LONG-A-Mutineers

Various versions of these songs and games exist, and many verses / rules may be missing.  But, contained in these pages you should fine many of the fine songs us Mutineers can be heard singing or seen playing from time to time when they get together(mostly instigated by Dan, and following a couple of snakeyB’s)

See the following link for demonstration video and detailed

instructions on how to play bunnies on Dr Dan’s website.

Below is a brief description of what you can find there...

Rules of Bunnieshttp://www.chalkie.org.uk/shapeimage_1_link_0

'Bunnies' is a drinking game enjoyed at universities, especially by their sports clubs, throughout the British Isles, and indeed all over the world. After many years of evolution since its creation (in the dim and distant past of all male halls of residence, eating fully gowned while in hall refectories, hockey being played on grass and such other now archaic practices), this pillar of British university tradition remains alive to this day as a vital part of a good social life.

The main functions of the game are to bring together the members of sports teams and instill in them a tremendous team spirit, to aid in the consumption of alcoholic beverages and, importantly, to introduce and test the abilities, mental and physical, of each year's crop of fresh faced, bushy tailed freshers.

1) PLAY

PROCEDURE

The game proceeds around the

circle with people taking turns

rolling the two dice. The first

person to roll either a "Three" or a

"Two and a One" becomes the first

3-Man. This person is then 3-Man

for an entire round.  When the dice

return to the current 3-Man if they

do not throw a "Three" or a "Two

and a One" on their next turn then

the next person to do so becomes the 3-Man, and so on.
The dice are only passed to the next person when someone rolls something that does not require drinking.

SCORING ROLLS
As the dice are passed around the circle, when a “Three” or a “Two and a One” are thrown: whoever is the three man must drink 1 digit for every 3 rolled.
If the dice total is Seven: The person to the left of the "roller" takes 1 digit.
If the dice total is Eleven: The person to the right of the "roller" takes 1 digit.
If a double (except Six) is thrown: That number of digits (i.e. 1 to 5) can be nominated by the "roller".
If a Double Six is thrown: The "roller" has to drink a pint of contributions (an empty pint glass filled with bits of everybody's drinks).

NON-SCORING (BUT DRINKING) ROLLS!
When the dice totals Nine and does not contain a Three: Non-Scoring Social, everybody takes 1 digit.

10 MAN RULE

To avoid breakages, where there are more than 10 people in a circle, the 10 man rule is invoked.  ie. whoever is first to roll a “Three” becomes 3-Man and remains 3-Man for an entire round, however if anyone rolls a “Two and a One” during that round, they then become 3-Man.  3-Man then remains with them for an entire round, unless, of course someone else rolls a “Two and a One”.

2) SING

Since a great many of the songs that the Merry Mutineers sing are un-publishable on such a family orientated website, you can find all our songs in their full glory by clicking on the passworded document below

When I was just a Penguin Egg

When I was just a penguin egg

I asked my mother

Where will I go ?

Will it be Luton ?

Brunel ? 4 C’s ?

She said  "We'll have to see"

I hope it’s the UEA

The glorious UEA

I hope it’s the UEA

It’s the place to be !

(Repeat last 4 lines to fade/ad nauseum to the opposition)

Show me the Way to go Home

Show me the way to go home,

I'm tired and I want to go to bed,

I had a little drink about an hour ago,

And it's gone straight to my head.

Oh, wherever I may roam,

Over land or sea or snow,

You can always hear me singing this song,

Show me the way to go home.

For intellectuals…

Indicate the way to my habitual abode,

I'm fatigued and I wish to retire,

I had a small beverage 60 minutes ago,

And it's gone straight to my cranium,

Oh, wherever I may perambulate,

Over land or sea or effervescent waters,

You can always hear my humming this melody,

Indicate the way to my abode.

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

Swing low, sweet chariot Comin' for to carry me home;

Swing low, sweet chariot

Comin' for to carry me home.

I looked over Jordan, and

What did I see,

Comin' for to carry me home?

A band of angels comin' after me,

Comin' for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot

Comin' for to carry me home

If you get there before I do

Comin' for to carry me home,

Tell all my friends I'm comin' too

Comin' for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot

Comin' for to carry me home;

Sometimes I'm up,

Sometimes I'm down,

Comin' for to carry me home;

Yet still my soul feels heavn'ly bound,

Comin' for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot

Comin' for to carry me home

Father Abraham

<Chorus>

Father Abraham had seven sons.

And seven sons had Father Abraham.

And he never laughed,

And he never cried,

All he did was go like this.

(With motions)

With a left (arm), With a left

With a right (arm), With a right

With a left (leg), With a left

With a right (leg), With a right

With a HOO (head, With a HOO

With a AAH (pelvis), With a AAH

Father Abraham (HUAH) had seven sons (HUAH)

And seven sons had Father Abraham (HUAH)

And he never laughed (HUAH)

And he never cried (HUAH)

All he did was go like this (HUAH) ?

Sunshine Mountain [with actions]

[from on a chair, suitable aloft position]

We’re climbing up the sunshine mountain [walking movements],

Where the four winds bloe (oh, ho ho) [cup hands around mouth]

We’re climbing up the sunshine mountain, [walking movements]

Faces all a-glow! [hands to side of face]

Turn, turn your back on sorrow, [turn around on the spot] hands up to the sky! [raise arms above head]

We’re climbing up the sunshine mountain [walking movements]

You and I, you and I! [point at person at floor level, and back to self x 2, in the hope of making said person join you in a lofty position]

Repeat until all people in room are standing on chairs.
